Everyone at GastroIntestinal Healthcare strongly believes in giving back to the community. We do this by directly participating in an event or through corporate sponsorships. Here are just a few of the organizations that we have been proud to support:
In 2009 and 2012, GastroIntestinal Healthcare was a sponsor of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation Gala. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis. Since CCFA's founding over four decades ago, they have remained at the forefront of research in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Today, the organization funds cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurture investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finance underdeveloped areas of research.
In lieu of gifts that we give to our referring physicians every holiday, GastroIntestinal Healthcare decided to instead give to an organization that gives so much to our community. In 2012, we gave $1,000 to the Raleigh Rescue Mission. The Raleigh Rescue Mission offers Emergency Overnight Services, Recovery and Rehabilitation Services, Adult Education Center, Children's Development Center, and a Medical Clinic.
We have been proud sponsors of this event from 2009-2012. We also directly participated in the event by organizing a team of walkers comprised of our physicians and staff, their friends, family members, and patients. Get Your Rear in Gear events are designed to unite people, cities, and states throughout the USA, to provide support and hope for those who have had their lives affected by our nation’s second leading cause of cancer deaths, and to encourage individuals of all ages to get screened for colon cancer.
In 2012, we were a Tee Box Sponsor for the Wake Forest Police Department's 17th Annual Tournament for the Kids. Over the years, proceeds from this event have been used to provide Christmas gifts for needy children, sponsor t-ball and softball teams, and provide sponsorships for needy children to participate in recreational events. In addition, these proceeds assist the police department in purchasing give-away items such as pens, pencils, water bottles, safety materials, and other items to children in an effort to increase interaction between the police department and the children in the community.
In 2012, GastroIntestinal Healthcare became a part of “history” with our Platinum Sponsorship of the newly-opened Rolesville Middle School located off of Burlington Mill Road. The school, under the leadership of Principal Dhedra Lassiter, currently serves 6th graders and has a track of 7th graders. The school plans to be fully operational by offering 6th through 8th grades by 2013. Our sponsorship will allow the school to assist teachers with technology such as software integral for the classroom, provide cultural arts presentations that directly support the curriculum, assist its media center with acquiring more books, and support administration with necessary items that will directly benefit the school. Rolesville Middle School will have a profound effect on the area, and we’re delighted to be able to support them at this crucial time in their development.
For the last three years, GastroIntestinal Healthcare has been a proud supporter of the Theater Arts Department of North Raleigh Christian Academy. We will be supporting the school again this year and are proud of the mission and values of this fine educational institution.
NorthRaleigh Christian Academy is a community Christian school assisting families by providing excellence in academics, fine arts and athletics, while instilling Biblical principles in students' lives that they might impact their society for Christ.
It’s always gratifying to see local companies make a personal investment in their employees by offering corporate health fairs. Over the years, we try to participate in as many of these events as possible in order to help communicate the importance of good gastrointestinal health. Over the years, we have accepted invitations from such organizations as RDU International Airport, Springfield Baptist Church, The Body Shop, and the Upper Room Family and Ministries Health Fair.
